We fulfill the highest ZDHC conformance
As a forerunner in chemical assessment bluesign has always been making sure that bluesign® APPROVED chemistry satisfies strict consumer safety requirements. This means in other words: By using bluesign® APPROVED chemicals manufactured textile articles will comply with consumer safety limits laid down in the BSSL and the AFIRM RSL. Our long-established concept has now additionally been recognized by ZDHC.
bluesign has been approved to be a certification standard for the CtZ (Chemicals to Zero) – Progressive level which is the highest conformance level according to the ZDHC framework and which adds to the MRSL 3.1 Level 3 approval. CtZ – progressive level is equivalent to AFIRM RSL compliance if the listed chemistry is applied according to the chemical supplier’s instruction.
All bluesign® APPROVED chemical products have been automatically moved to CtZ – progressive level on 28th of July 2023. To make the updated status visible a formal confirmation of the chemical supplier/formulator on the gateway is necessary for all products.
Please refer to the step by step guidance on the ZDHC website here: Chemicals to Zero on ZDHC Gateway (Formulator) – Stichting ZDHC Foundation Help Centre (roadmaptozero.com)
Please be aware that bluesign® APPROVED means more than just CtZ – Progressive level. Our system also includes
■ Hazard assessment of chemical products
■ Assessment against SVHC substances
■ Wastewater impact assessment
■ Air emission impact assessment
■ Risk assessment to make sure workers are safe
■ Possibility to claim sustainability attributes such as renewable feedstock content and recycled content
