Meeting the bluesign Criteria takes real work. It means opening your chemistry, your production processes, and the conditions where your products are made to independent experts, and committing to keep improving over time. That work is real, and none of it shows on a hangtag. A shopper sees a jacket.

Every bluesign System Partner has signed the System Partner agreement and passed the bluesign Criteria assessment. As a group, they are the unseen network behind the products people already own. Independent experts assess the chemistry, the production processes, and the conditions where products are made, and each company commits to follow bluesign Criteria and work to improve over time.

Every System Partner starts at the first. Each step after that shows consumers a little more of the work behind a product, and bluesign helps you get there.

Consumers can read what a product is made of. They cannot see how it was made. Labels answer the first question and not the second. The Unseen Process answers the second.

How the bluesign System works

Input control

Chemicals are assessed before they enter the supply chain. Problems are addressed at the source, not detected after production.

Ongoing improvement

Partners work to improve beyond the certification requirements over time. The goal is ongoing progress, not a one-time check.

On-site assessment

bluesign experts visit production sites in person to assess processes across six areas of responsibility. This is not a paper audit or self-reported questionnaire.

Expert-reviewed data

Manufacturers share primary data from their own production. bluesign experts review it, and decisions are based on real production data, not estimates.
