Every brand faces the same internal question: what does cleaner chemistry cost us in performance and price? The answer starts earlier than most people expect. Repair, repurpose, reuse and recycling all work with what was already put in. A product carries its chemistry forward, which means the decision that shapes its impact happens long before anyone thinks about its second life.

Repurposing makes this sharpest: the same material moves into a new use, with new exposure, and nobody reassesses because the material is treated as already known. This session covers where the performance trade-offs are real, where they turn out to be smaller than expected, what a material carries forward through every cycle, and what it costs to find a problem at final testing instead of at input selection. Since 27 September, brands selling into the EU have had to show the evidence behind what they say.

Join us at The Loop, ISPO’s first hands-on sustainability zone, where we “Reveal the Unseen Process”
At ISPO Amsterdam, bluesign joins The Loop, the show’s first hands-on sustainability zone, which follows the product lifecycle across five pillars: Repair, Repurpose, Reuse, Recycle and Reveal.

In the Reveal pillar, our installation The Unseen Process asks questions we rarely ask about the things we wear, such as who suffered from the noise of the machines that made my t-shirt. Visitors will pull, listen, compare and touch to reveal what happens behind production, and what bluesign assesses at the source long before a product reaches them.
