Bluesign already has it on its system substance list for more than a decade
On 10th of June 2022 the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has added a new substance called N-(hydroxymethyl)acrylamide (CAS No. 924-42-5) to the SVHC (Substances of very high concern) candidate list. This carcinogenic substance is widely used as a raw material in textile chemicals. It can be present as an impurity on textiles especially in acrylate polymer coatings and finishes. Following a forward thinking approach Bluesign had already included N-(hydroxymethyl)acrylamide in its Bluesign system substance list (BSSL) since 2011 assuring a high level of consumer safety.
