Ecological action is (in)valuable Governments are intervening with increasingly strict legislation aimed at protecting health and the environment. An example of this is the EU's planned chemicals reform. In the run-up to its presentation in Brussels in October 2003, the proposal mobilised the international chemical industry as well as numerous environmental protection organisations. A few heads of government even made it their top priority. The possible impacts are also forcing the textile industry to assess and discuss the situation.
